On 21 October, the fine short show ” Turning around and encountering light ” was officially opened at the long triangle (Salin City) digital audiovisual industry base. The show was co-directed by Zhang Xiaolong and Zhou Jie, and led by Liang Kai and Wu Xiao Li, in order to write a true and warm pen to focus on the survival and growth of contemporary urban youth, and to describe their lost experience in real stress, their exploration and, ultimately, their own reconstruction.
The episode was organized around a 20-year-old girl, Violet. After resigning from her first job, she fell into a low-life situation and had a chance to enter the “City of Short opera” and meet the son of the park manager. Koon Ming is also dealing with the temptation to engage in reality — if successful works cannot be produced in the short term, the father will take back the park and his film dreams will be put on hold. Two young people are working together in difficult circumstances, with Violet starting from zero, and systematically learning the whole process of production of films, directories, performances, later stages, etc., and gradually finding a way back to life. They assembled a group of like-minded young creators who eventually worked together to produce a high-quality short play that ushered in the first creation of dreams.
In addition to the main thread of youth struggle and emotional growth, Turning To Light explores in greater depth the real issues of how contemporary youth pursue their own values in urban life. With the central theme of “Self-Saving and Growing”, the episode echoed the broad social resonance of the moment.
The opening ceremony took place and was inaugurated by the lead team and the base staff. In a lively round of applause, the project formally entered the film preparation phase. It is known that the film will be launched on 28 October 2025, with a seven-day shoot cycle, after which it is planned to be broadcast simultaneously on several short video platforms. During the preparation of the script, the lead team made numerous visits to try to resonate the audience with stories from the ground; and the unique advantages of the long triangle (Salin City) digital audio-visual industry are also key reasons for team landings.
Director Zhang Xiaolong stated that the key to the team’s final choice of Salt City through multiple rounds was its unique advantage of the “new and old combination”. As an emerging digital audio-visual industry platform, the Base enjoys policy support and refinement; at the same time, it is composed of experienced industry professionals who are both innovative and efficient in their implementation, providing strong guarantees for the creation of the theatre.

According to Chen Xiaoping, a staff member of Beijing ‘ s Long Triangle (Salin City) Digital Audio-Visual Industry Base, the experience and efficiency of local video teams, as well as the support of policy and industrial ecology, the resources of the Base ‘ s indoor and outdoor scenes, virtual studios and proptiles, crowd casts and late editing services have been fully equipped to reduce production costs through a full chain of ecology.
The long triangle (Salin City) digital audio-visual industry base has been known to have focused on the development of digital audio-visual technology and the “AI+” “micro-short play+” track since its establishment at the end of 2022, and has been actively promoting business integration and model innovation. Through the three phases of construction, the base has developed from incubation of innovation, scale-up to digital trade.
